Common Core in the Library
Stay tuned for some super safety in the library! Third grade students are doing a wonderful job with online safety. They have created superhero's to help people become upstanding digital citizens (those who use the internet safely and respectfully). We have heroes like Knowledge Man, Electric woman, and a whole lot more. Digital comics were then made showing the superhero fighting unsafe online behavior demonstrating CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.3a (Establish a situation and introduce a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally).
In second grade, students have been hard at work on the Common Core Standard ELA-Lit.RL.2.9: Compare and contrast two or more versions of the same story by different authors or from different cultures. We've read two versions of the Goldilocks folktale, finding all kinds of similarities and differences. Additionally, students have practiced The Five Finger Rule, which will help them to find "Just Right" challenging books.
Reading Club
We're excited about the launch of the Reading Club. Currently we have both second and third graders participating in groups and they are doing a magnificent job. Each student has a unique role and a chance to lead the book discussion. Thank you to all who signed up, but it's still not too late if you're interested. Stay tuned, we'll have some video footage of how the club works on our webpage.
Website Highlights
Ed & Tech FeedsThis is a more visual way to view educational & technological highlights from twitter, pinterest, and blogs.
Educational & Tech Blogs
Check out the latest articles and posting on all things educational and/or technology. Rather than click on loads of links, browse the titles to see if something catches your eye.
Booklists
The library trying to create useful booklists located on our webpage. Any books with a call number next to them, we own. If you have any topics to suggest, feel free and we'll add them to the page.
Also, if you prefer having your info all in one place rather than digging through emails, I've been trying to post useful links people have shared to the library's site (under Sites for Teaching or Teacher Resources). If there's a link you want added, feel free to let me know. Additionally, with Diane's permission, I've reposted some of her suggestions under Diane's Tech Ideas.
