Welcome to the Library!
Why is a school library media center so important? Here are our goals in a nutshell:

Sounds fancy doesn't it? But what does it really mean?
- One important role of the LMC staff is be familiar with all areas of the curriculum. We regularly purchase and provide materials, both print and non-print, to support that curriulum. The LMC staff also works with teachers, grade level leaders and various committees to study and develop curriculum in all areas of learning.
- The phrase, The Information Explosion, was coined almost a generation ago. Wow! We thought there was a lot of information to digest then....today it is truly mind-boggling. Librarians are trained to help consumers find their way through this maze. Whether it is learning how to use an index in a non-fiction book or evaluating websites for authenticity, the LMC staff is ready and able to guide its users. To help students with this daunting task, we are committed to a research method known as The Big 6 Guide to Information Problem Solving. [About the Big 6]
- Libraries are not just books anymore! For years, we have been at the forefront of integrating technology in the schools. We provide leadership and training for teachers. We look for ways to integrate appropriate software and websites into every subject area. Technology components fit in perfecly with Big 6 projects which are planned in colaboration with classroom teachers.
- Best for last! We are not doing our job as educators if we only teach children how to read. We must teach them towant to read. No matter what the future may hold, there is no better way to learn about our very complex world--its people, their ideas, their feelings--than through a great book. Literature opens our hearts and minds....and is pure joy. We believe that all children should be exposed to the best and encouraged every step of the way to embrace reading. Please feel free to contact us if we can ever be of service to you.
